Adhyāya 180: Jīva, Śarīra, and the Fire Analogy
śaye kadācit paryaṅke bhūmāv api punaḥ śaye | prāsāde cāpi me śayyā kadācid upapadyate ||
One should remain content and steady regardless of external circumstances—sleeping on a fine bed, on the ground, or in a palace—without pride in comfort or distress in hardship.
Bhīṣma, instructing on right conduct in the Śānti Parva, illustrates a life of non-dependence on material arrangements by describing how his sleeping place varies from couch to ground to palace bed.
