Duryodhana’s Post-Duel Lament and Instructions (भग्नसक्थस्य विलापः)
tad idaṃ samanupprāptaṃ tava vākya nṛpātmaje | evaṃ viditvā kalyāṇi mā sma śoke manaḥ kṛthāḥ ||
The verse counsels emotional steadiness: when an anticipated outcome has arrived, one should recognize it clearly and avoid being overwhelmed by sorrow. It frames grief as something the mind can be restrained from indulging, aligning with dharmic composure amid inevitable results.
Vaiśampāyana reports a consoling address to a princess: her earlier words have proved true, and she is urged to understand the situation and not grieve. It functions as a closing reassurance in the chapter’s aftermath setting.
