Sārasvata–Dadhīca Upākhyāna at Sarasvatī Tīrtha
Balarāma’s Pilgrimage Context
devalasyāśrame rājan anyavasat sa mahādyutiḥ
The verse highlights the dharmic motif of seeking shelter in a sage’s āśrama: a space associated with restraint, counsel, and moral recalibration. ‘Mahādyuti’ suggests that true brilliance can be aligned with humility—choosing disciplined residence under a ṛṣi rather than acting solely from power or impulse.
Vaiśampāyana informs King Janamejaya that a distinguished, radiant person has come to live in the hermitage of the sage Devala, marking a shift of scene to an āśrama setting where guidance, reflection, or consequential decisions may follow.
