Balarāma’s Pilgrimage Context
अन्तरिक्षचर: श्रीमान् कलशं गृहा[ देवल: । यही सोचते हुए श्रीमान् देवलमुनि कलश हाथमें लेकर आकाशमार्गसे समुद्रतटकी ओर चल दिये
antarikṣacaraḥ śrīmān kalaśaṃ gṛhā devalaḥ | iti cintayan śrīmān devalamuniḥ kalaśaṃ hastena gṛhītvā ākāśamārgeṇa samudrataṭaṃ prati jagāma |
ବୈଶମ୍ପାୟନ କହିଲେ—ଆକାଶରେ ବିଚରଣ କରୁଥିବା ଶ୍ରୀମାନ୍ ଦେବଳ ମୁନି ଗୋଟିଏ କଳଶ ଉଠାଇଲେ। ଏମିତି ମନେ ଭାବି, ହାତରେ କଳଶ ଧରି ଆକାଶମାର୍ଗେ ସମୁଦ୍ରତଟକୁ ପ୍ରସ୍ଥାନ କଲେ।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights deliberate, disciplined action: a sage reflects (“iti cintayan”) and then proceeds with purpose, suggesting that right conduct is guided by mindful intention rather than haste.
Vaiśaṃpāyana narrates that the sage Devala takes a water-pot and, traveling through the sky, goes toward the seashore—indicating a purposeful journey undertaken with ascetic preparedness.
