sañjaya uvāca: tavedaṃ svakṛtaṃ rājan mahad vairaṃ upasthitam | vināśo yena lokasya sānubandho bhaviṣyati ||
The verse stresses moral responsibility: destructive conflict does not arise by fate alone but from one’s own actions. A ruler’s choices can generate enmity whose consequences spread beyond the immediate actors, bringing widespread ruin.
Sañjaya addresses the king (Dhṛtarāṣṭra), warning him that the present, immense feud is self-created and will lead to catastrophic destruction affecting the whole realm and all those connected to it.
