the Pāṇḍavas (addressed collectively)

Educational Q&A

Vidura blesses the exiles and stresses discernment of one’s proper duty, especially in emergencies where dharma and practical necessity (artha) come into tension; right action must be chosen repeatedly in every undertaking.

As the Pāṇḍavas depart for the forest after the dice disaster, Vidura offers a farewell blessing and a final piece of guidance: remain steadfast in appropriate conduct during hardship and in all future affairs.
