Śiśupāla’s Protest Against the Arghya to Kṛṣṇa (शिशुपाल-आक्षेपः)
bāhnalikāś cāpare śūrā rājānaḥ sarva eva te | virāṭaḥ saha putrābhyāṃ māvellāśvana mahābalaḥ ||
The verse underscores the collective responsibility of rulers in moments of political crisis: many kings—named and unnamed—are drawn into larger conflicts, reminding readers that power and alliances carry ethical consequences beyond one’s own kingdom.
Vaiśaṃpāyana continues a catalogue of notable kings and warriors present/associated in the unfolding events, specifically naming the Bāhlika heroes, King Virāṭa with his two sons, and the mighty Māvellāśvana.
