Educational Q&A

True victory is completed by dharmic conduct: after triumph, the righteous grant protection and freedom to the defeated or oppressed. ‘Abhaya-dāna’ (granting safety) turns power into moral authority and expands lasting fame.

After Kṛṣṇa departs, the Pāṇḍavas are described as having achieved a major success connected with Jarāsandha’s oppression: they secure victory and then give assurance of safety to the many kings who had been imprisoned. This deed spreads the Pāṇḍavas’ renown and brings greater satisfaction to Draupadī.
