A warrior famed for valor should not adopt the conduct of the timid; dharma in battle demands steadfast courage and striving for higher excellence, especially when one’s reputation and duty as a kṣatriya are at stake.
Sañjaya narrates an exhortation addressed to a Pāṇḍava to act with exceptional bravery rather than retreat like a coward; immediately afterward, attention shifts to a distressed brāhmaṇa with disheveled hair and folded hands, signaling an impending plea that intersects with the ongoing war context.
