पुत्रास्तु ते महाराज जग्मु: कर्णरथं प्रति । अगाधे मज्जतां तेषां द्वीप: कर्णोडभवत्तदा

putrās tu te mahārāja jagmuḥ karṇarathaṃ prati |
agādhe majjatāṃ teṣāṃ dvīpaḥ karṇo ’bhavat tadā ||
ସଞ୍ଜୟ କହିଲେ—ମହାରାଜ! ତାପରେ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ରମାନେ ଦୌଡ଼ି କର୍ଣ୍ଣଙ୍କ ରଥ ପାଖକୁ ଗଲେ। ସେମାନେ ବିପଦର ଅଗାଧ ସାଗରରେ ଡୁବୁଥିଲେ; ସେହିବେଳେ କର୍ଣ୍ଣ ତାଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଦ୍ୱୀପ ସଦୃଶ ଆଶ୍ରୟ ଓ ରକ୍ଷକ ହେଲେ।
संजय उवाच
In extreme peril, people instinctively seek a capable protector; the verse highlights the ethical weight of leadership—strength and steadiness can become a ‘dvīpa’ (island-refuge) for those overwhelmed by fear and disorder.
During the battle, Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s sons are in severe संकट (distress) and rush to Karṇa’s chariot for safety and support; Sañjaya describes Karṇa as their refuge, using the metaphor of an island for drowning persons.
