Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the moral gravity of war: even the mightiest warrior can be brought low, and the spectacle of a hero’s fall becomes a public lesson in the consequences of violence, pride, and the inexorable working of fate within kṣatriya conflict.

Sañjaya describes a battlefield moment in which Karṇa is seen falling from his chariot, struck by arrows; surrounding kings, themselves wounded and demoralized, cry out in anguish as they witness the reversal of fortune.
