Educational Q&A

The line underscores the comprehensive reach of a warrior’s action in battle—impacting multiple arms of the army (elephants, cavalry, chariots). Ethically, it reflects the Mahābhārata’s recurring tension between personal prowess and the wider consequences of violence in a dharma-conflicted war.

Sañjaya is describing Karṇa’s activity on the battlefield, indicating that Karṇa’s force or attack is being felt across different military divisions—elephants, horses, and chariots—suggesting intense, wide-ranging combat.
