Karṇa Parva, Chapter 15: Pāṇḍya’s Advance and Aśvatthāmā’s Counterstroke
evam ācāryaputreṇa samāhūto yuyutsayā
The verse highlights the warrior ethic: when formally summoned or challenged in battle, one responds with readiness (yuyutsā), reflecting the kṣatriya ideal of meeting conflict directly while the larger narrative questions of dharma and consequence remain in the background.
Sañjaya reports that a combatant is called forth by the preceptor’s son (ācāryaputra) and, driven by the will to fight, steps forward—signaling the initiation or escalation of a specific duel or engagement.
