Educational Q&A

The verse underscores how collective human action—especially war—creates consequences that feel cosmic in scale: the earth ‘trembles’ as a moral and emotional register of impending destruction, urging reflection on the weight of violence and responsibility.

Sañjaya describes the battlefield’s overwhelming noise—elephants’ bells, conches, and marching feet—conveying the immense mobilization of forces and the tense, foreboding atmosphere as combat intensifies.
