Bhagadatta’s Advance, the Saṃśaptaka Challenge, and Arjuna’s Counterstrike (द्रोणपर्व, अध्याय २६)
रथानीकेन महता सर्वतः पर्यवारयत् | तब युधिष्ठिरने राजा भगदत्तको अपने बाणोंसे घायल करके विशाल रथसेनाके द्वारा सब ओरसे घेर लिया

rathānīkena mahatā sarvataḥ paryavārayat |
ସଞ୍ଜୟ କହିଲେ—ବିଶାଳ ରଥାନୀକ ଦ୍ୱାରା ସେ ତାକୁ ସବୁଦିଗରୁ ଘେରିଦେଲା। ତାପରେ ରାଜା ଯୁଧିଷ୍ଠିର ନିଜ ବାଣରେ ଭଗଦତ୍ତକୁ ଆହତ କରି, ମହା ରଥସେନା ଦ୍ୱାରା ସମସ୍ତ ଦିଗରୁ ତାକୁ ଅବରୋଧ କଲେ—ଏହା କ୍ରୂରତା ନୁହେଁ, ବରଂ ଭୟଙ୍କର ଶତ୍ରୁକୁ ନିୟନ୍ତ୍ରଣ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଶିସ୍ତବଦ୍ଧ ଯୁଦ୍ଧକ୍ରିୟା।
संजय उवाच
Even amid war, action is expected to be purposeful and disciplined: a king uses organized force to neutralize a dangerous opponent, reflecting kṣatriya-dharma—protecting one’s side through strategy rather than uncontrolled aggression.
Sañjaya reports that a warrior is encircled on all sides by a large chariot-formation; in the surrounding context, Yudhiṣṭhira wounds Bhagadatta with arrows and then has him hemmed in by a great chariot-host.
