पज्चालानां च संसक्त न प्राज्ञायत किंचन । अन्तकाक्रीडसदृशं भीरूणां भयवर्धनम्,कौरवों तथा पांचालोंके सारे विशाल सैन्य परस्पर मिलकर व्यग्र हो उठे थे। उस समय उनमेंसे किसी दलको अलग-अलग पहचाना नहीं जाता था। वह समरांगण यमराजका क्रीडास्थल-सा हो रहा था और कायरोंका भय बढ़ा रहा था

ସଞ୍ଜୟ କହିଲେ—ପାଞ୍ଚାଳମାନେ ଓ ଅନ୍ୟମାନେ ଘନିଷ୍ଠ ଯୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଗୁଞ୍ଜିଗଲେ ପରେ କିଛି ମଧ୍ୟ ସ୍ପଷ୍ଟ ଜଣାପଡ଼ୁନଥିଲା; କୌଣସି ପକ୍ଷ କିମ୍ବା ବ୍ୟୂହ ଅଲଗା ଚିହ୍ନଟ ହେଉନଥିଲା। ସେ ରଣଭୂମି ଅନ୍ତକଙ୍କ କ୍ରୀଡାସଦୃଶ ହୋଇ, ଭୀରୁମାନଙ୍କ ଭୟକୁ ବଢ଼ାଉଥିଲା।
