Vāsudeva-Māhātmya: Duryodhana’s Inquiry and Bhīṣma’s Theological Account of Keśava
पार्थस्तु विष्टभ्य बलेन पादौ भीष्मान्तिकं तूर्णमभिद्रवन्तम् । बलान्निजग्राह हरिं किरीटी पदे5थ राजन् दशमे कथज्चित्,राजन! तब किरीटथारी अर्जुनने भीष्मके निकट बड़े वेगसे जाते हुए श्रीहरिके चरणोंको बलपूर्वक पकड़ लिया और किसी प्रकार दसवें कदमपर पहुँचते-पहुँचते उन्हें रोका
pārthas tu viṣṭabhya balena pādau bhīṣmāntikaṁ tūṛṇam abhidravantam | balān nijagrāha hariṁ kirīṭī pade daśame 'tha rājan kathaṁcit ||
ସଞ୍ଜୟ କହିଲେ— ହେ ରାଜନ! ତେବେ କିରୀଟଧାରୀ ଅର୍ଜୁନ ପାଦ ଦୁଇଟିକୁ ବଳରେ ଦୃଢ଼ କରି, ଭୀଷ୍ମଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ତ୍ୱରାରେ ଧାଉଥିବା ହରିଙ୍କ ପାଦକୁ ବଳପୂର୍ବକ ଧରିଲେ। କିଛିପରି ଦଶମ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ ପୂର୍ବରୁ ତାଙ୍କୁ ରୋକିଦେଲେ।
संजय उवाच
Even in a just cause, uncontrolled wrath can endanger dharma. The verse highlights the ethical necessity of restraint and responsible intervention—Arjuna physically prevents Kṛṣṇa’s impulsive advance, preserving order and the larger moral framework of the war.
Kṛṣṇa, provoked by Bhīṣma’s fierce onslaught and the crisis on the battlefield, rushes toward Bhīṣma. Arjuna, alarmed, braces himself and grabs Kṛṣṇa by the feet, forcibly stopping him before he completes ten steps.
