तं शब्दं तुमुलं श्रुत्वा पाण्डवानां महारथा:

Transliteration

sañjaya uvāca |

taṁ śabdaṁ tumulaṁ śrutvā pāṇḍavānāṁ mahārathāḥ |

atāḍayan raṇe bhīṣmaṁ sahitāḥ sarvasṛñjayāḥ ||

Translation

ସଞ୍ଜୟ କହିଲେ—ପାଣ୍ଡବମାନଙ୍କ ଉଠିଥିବା ସେଇ ଭୟଙ୍କର, କୋଳାହଳମୟ ଗର୍ଜନ ଶୁଣି ସମସ୍ତ ସୃଞ୍ଜୟ ମହାରଥୀ ଏକାସାଥି ଗଠିତ ହୋଇ ରଣରେ ଭୀଷ୍ମଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ଝାପି ପଡ଼ିଲେ। ଶତଘ୍ନୀ, ପରିଘ, ଫରସା, ମୁଦ୍ଗର, ମୁସଳ, ପ୍ରାସ, ଗୋଫଣ, ସୁବର୍ଣ୍ଣପକ୍ଷ ବାଣ, ଶକ୍ତି, ତୋମର, କମ୍ପନ, ନାରାଚ, ବତ୍ସଦନ୍ତ ଓ ଭୁଶୁଣ୍ଡୀ ଆଦି ଅସ୍ତ୍ର-ଶସ୍ତ୍ରରେ ସେମାନେ ସବୁଦିଗରୁ ପ୍ରହାର କରି ରଣଭୂମିରେ ତାଙ୍କୁ ପୀଡ଼ା ଦେବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ।
