śvetacchatrasahasrāṇi sadhvajāś ca mahārathāḥ | vikīrṇāḥ samadṛśyanta śataśo 'tha sahasraśaḥ ||
ହଜାର ହଜାର ଧଳା ଛତ୍ର ଏଠି-ସେଠି ଛିଟିଯାଇ ପଡ଼ିଥିଲା; ଧ୍ୱଜସହିତ ମହାରଥୀମାନେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଶତଶଃ ଓ ସହସ୍ରଶଃ ସବୁଦିଗରେ ଛିଟିଯାଇ ଦେଖାଯାଉଥିଲେ।
संजय उवाच

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra the दृश्य of the battlefield: countless royal parasols and bannered chariot-champions are seen strewn across the field, indicating heavy casualties and the disordered aftermath of intense fighting.
