Daśame’hani Bhīṣma-yuddham — Śikhaṇḍī-rakṣaṇa, Arjuna-prabhāva, Duryodhana-āśraya-vākyam

संजय उवाच न द्रोण: समरे पार्थ जानीते प्रियमात्मन: । क्षत्रधर्म पुरस्कृत्य पार्थो वा गुरुमाहवे,संजयने कहा--महाराज! समरभूमिमें द्रोणाचार्य अर्जुनको अपना प्रिय नहीं समझते हैं और अर्जुन भी क्षत्रियधर्मको आगे रखकर युद्धस्थलमें गुरुको अपना प्रिय नहीं मानते हैं

sañjaya uvāca | na droṇaḥ samare pārtha jānīte priyam ātmanaḥ | kṣatradharma-puraskṛtya pārtho vā gurum āhave ||

ସଞ୍ଜୟ କହିଲେ—ହେ ପାର୍ଥ! ସମରରେ ଦ୍ରୋଣ ତୁମକୁ ନିଜ ପ୍ରିୟ ବୋଲି ମାନନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ; ଏବଂ ତୁମେ ମଧ୍ୟ କ୍ଷତ୍ରିୟଧର୍ମକୁ ଅଗ୍ରେ ରଖି ଯୁଦ୍ଧଭୂମିରେ ଗୁରୁଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରିୟ ବୋଲି ଦେଖୁନାହଁ।

In war, personal favoritism and private affection are subordinated to kṣatriya-dharma; even the guru–disciple bond must yield to the impartial demands of duty in battle.

Sanjaya explains to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Droṇa will not spare Arjuna out of fondness, and Arjuna likewise will not hold back out of reverence for his teacher, because both prioritize the warrior code on the battlefield.
