Arjuna’s request to Krishna and the opening of the Kāśyapa–Brāhmaṇa mokṣa discourse (Āśvamedhika-parva 16)
bhṛśaṃ prīto ’smi bhavataś cāritreṇa vicakṣaṇa | paripṛcchasva kuśalaṃ bhāṣeyaṃ yat tavepsitam, vidvan |
The verse affirms that ethical conduct (cāritra) earns trust and opens the way for instruction; true inquiry should focus on kuśala—what leads to genuine welfare—and a worthy teacher responds according to the seeker’s sincere aim.
A Siddha, pleased by the interlocutor’s exemplary behavior, invites him to ask about his welfare and promises to answer whatever question he truly seeks, setting the stage for further guidance.
