Bhāgīrathī-tīra-śauca, Kurukṣetra-gamana, and Śatayūpa-āśrama-dīkṣā (गङ्गातीरशौच–कुरुक्षेत्रगमन–शतयूपाश्रमदीक्षा)
युधिष्ठिरो 5हमस्मीति वाक्यमुकत्वाग्रत: स्थित: । विदुरस्य श्रवे राजा तं॑ च प्रत्यभ्यपूजयत्
yudhiṣṭhiro ’ham asmīti vākyam uktvā ’grataḥ sthitaḥ | vidurasya śrave rājā taṃ ca pratyabhipūjayat ||
“ମୁଁ ଯୁଧିଷ୍ଠିର”—ଏହି କଥା କହି ସେ ତାଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଦାଁଡ଼ିଲେ। ବିଦୁର ଯେପରି ସ୍ପଷ୍ଟ ଶୁଣିପାରନ୍ତି, ସେତିକି ଦୂରରୁ କହି; ପରେ ନିକଟକୁ ଯାଇ ରାଜା ତାଙ୍କୁ ମହା ଆଦରରେ ସତ୍କାର କଲେ।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even a sovereign should approach the wise with humility: proper self-introduction, consideration for the other’s comfort (speaking within hearing), and sincere honoring of elders embody dharma in conduct.
Yudhiṣṭhira identifies himself to Vidura from a suitable distance so Vidura can hear, then comes closer and formally honors him, marking a respectful meeting between king and revered counselor.
