The verse teaches that attachment to and reliance upon a sacred, purifying dharmic support (the Gaṅgā) can surpass worldly bonds; separation from such a holy refuge is depicted as more painful than losing family or wealth, underscoring the primacy of spiritual orientation over material security.
A Siddha (accomplished sage) is speaking, praising the Gaṅgā’s spiritual significance. By comparing ordinary bereavements with ‘Gaṅgā-separation,’ he instructs listeners to value proximity, faith, and devotion to the sacred river as a central dharmic good.
