Adhyāya 71: Kaca and the Saṃjīvanī-vidyā
Devayānī–Śukra Episode
(आश्रमस्याभिगमने कि त्वं कार्य चिकीर्षसि । कस्त्वमद्येह सम्प्राप्तो महर्षेराश्रमं शुभम् ।।) “आपके आश्रमकी ओर पधारनेका क्या कारण है? आप यहाँ कौन-सा कार्य सिद्ध करना चाहते हैं? आपका परिचय क्या है? आप कौन हैं? और आज यहाँ महर्षिके इस शुभ आश्रमपर (किस उद्देश्यसे) आये हैं? तामब्रवीत् ततो राजा कन्यां मधुरभाषिणीम् | दृष्टवा चैवानवद्याजीं यथावत् प्रतिपूजित:,उसके द्वारा विधिवत् किये हुए आतिथ्य सत्कारको ग्रहण करके राजाने उस सर्वांगसुन्दरी एवं मधुरभाषिणी कन््याकी ओर देखकर कहा
āśramasyābhigamane ki tvaṃ kāryaṃ cikīrṣasi | kas tvam adyeha samprāpto maharṣer āśramaṃ śubham ||
“ଆପଣ ଏହି ଆଶ୍ରମକୁ କେଉଁ କାରଣରୁ ଆସିଛନ୍ତି? ଏଠାରେ କେଉଁ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ସିଦ୍ଧ କରିବାକୁ ଚାହୁଁଛନ୍ତି? ଆପଣ କିଏ—ଆପଣଙ୍କ ପରିଚୟ କ’ଣ? ଏବଂ ଆଜି ମହର୍ଷିଙ୍କ ଏହି ଶୁଭ ଆଶ୍ରମକୁ କେଉଁ ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ ଆସିଛନ୍ତି?”—ଏଭଳି ସେ ପଚାରିଲା। ତାହାର ବିଧିପୂର୍ବକ ଆତିଥ୍ୟ-ସତ୍କାର ଗ୍ରହଣ କରି, ସେଇ ସର୍ବାଙ୍ଗସୁନ୍ଦରୀ ମଧୁରଭାଷିଣୀ କନ୍ୟାକୁ ଦେଖି ରାଜା କହିଲେ।
