वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse uses stark imagery to underline the ethical gravity of violence: the battlefield’s gore is not merely physical detail but a reminder that acts of slaughter leave a dark, lingering moral atmosphere, like twilight clouds that dim clarity and peace.
The narrator describes the aftermath of fierce fighting: figures (or the scene) are covered with fat and blood, and their appearance is compared to twilight rain-clouds—suggesting darkness, heaviness, and foreboding in the wake of combat.
