छिन्धि भिन्धि प्रधाव त्वं पातयाभिसरेति च । व्यश्रूयन्त महाघोरा: शब्दास्तत्र समन्तत:,उस रणभूमिमें चारों ओर ये ही अत्यन्त भयंकर शब्द सुनायी पड़ते थे कि “टुकड़े- टुकड़े कर दो, चीर डालो, दौड़ो, गिरा दो और पीछा करो”
chindhi bhindhi pradhāva tvaṁ pātayābhisareti ca | vyaśrūyanta mahāghorāḥ śabdās tatra samantataḥ ||
ସେହି ରଣଭୂମିରେ ସମସ୍ତ ଦିଗରୁ ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଭୟଙ୍କର ଚିତ୍କାର ଶୁଣାଯାଉଥିଲା—“କାଟିଦେ! ଚିରିଦେ! ଧାଉ! ପକାଇଦେ! ପଛୁଆ କର!”—ଯେନ ଯୁଦ୍ଧୋନ୍ମାଦ ନୀତିସଂଯମକୁ ଢାକିଦେଇଥିଲା।
शौनक उवाच
The verse highlights how war amplifies aggressive impulses and collective frenzy; it implicitly warns that when violence dominates, discernment and restraint—key supports of dharma—are easily overwhelmed.
Śaunaka describes the battlefield atmosphere: terrifying commands and shouts—ordering cutting down, splitting, charging, striking down, and pursuing—are heard everywhere, conveying the chaos and intensity of combat.
