गन्धर्व उवाच
True excellence in a warrior is not only martial skill but also inner nobility and disciplined conduct. The verse links heroism with ethical restraint—especially faithful observance of vows such as brahmacarya—presenting self-control as a foundation for righteous strength.
A Gandharva addresses a group of brothers with honorific praise, acknowledging them as divinely inclined, great-souled, foremost among weapon-bearers, and steadfast in their vows. The speech functions as recognition of their valor and moral discipline within the unfolding encounter.
