Soma Pavamāna’s ritual purification through the pavitra (filter) and his auspicious, prosperity-giving arrival in the sacrifice
Soma Pavamāna

R̥ṣi attributions are not supplied in the input; this set belongs to the Pavamāna hymn-stream where seer-assignments require concordance with the underlying Ṛgvedic sources and Sāmavedic anukramaṇī.
Soma pressing and straining (pavana) with the fleece/filter (avī pavitra); Soma’s clarified essence is offered and shared with the gods.
Mantra 1
अस्य प्रेषा हेमना पूयमानो देवो देवेभिः समपृक्त रसम् सुतः पवित्रं पर्येति रेभन्मितेव सद्म पशुमन्ति होता
Urged onward, and purified by the golden (filtering), the god, the pressed Soma, mingled with the gods, passes through the strainer with his essence; he enters the dwelling that abounds in cattle, as the Hotṛ (of the rite).
Mantra 2
भद्रा वस्त्रा समन्या ऽ ऽ3 वसानो महान्कविर्निवचनानि शंसन् आ वच्यस्व चम्वोः पूयमानो विचक्षणो जागृविर्देववीतौ
Wearing auspicious garments, the great sage, proclaiming distinct utterances, be thou made manifest in the bowls; purified, clear-seeing, wakeful, in the winning of the gods.
Mantra 3
समु प्रियो मृज्यते सानो अव्ये यशस्तरो यशसां क्षैतो अस्मे अभि स्वर धन्वा पूयमानो यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः
Beloved (Soma), he is purified upon the ridge, upon the sheep’s wool; most glorious among glories, abiding for us: sound forth over the course; whilst being purified, do ye ever protect us with auspicious benedictions.
It portrays Soma being urged onward and purified through the pavitra (filter), then becoming fit to mingle with the gods and to grant prosperity—glory, cattle, and well-being—to the sacrificer.
Sheep’s fleece is a standard Soma-straining medium; it symbolizes and performs purification, turning the pressed juice into ritually clarified Soma suitable for offering and praise.
Alongside Soma’s purification and blessing, Sarasvant is invoked for a specific desired fruit of the rite—fertility and sons/progeny—linking the chant to household prosperity and continuity.
