Uncertain from single-verse context (likely a Ramayana-episode speaker addressing a mother-figure, e.g., Kausalyā/Sumitṛā/Kaikeyī, or a divine Mother such as Pārvatī).
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: vira
Sandhi Resolution Notes:
It links the suffering of Sītā’s abduction and the later recovery effort to a chain of causation attributed to Lakṣmaṇa’s conduct—highlighting karmic and ethical responsibility within the narrative.
Viceṣṭitam can mean “conduct/acts,” and in many contexts it carries a nuance of “improper or fateful behavior,” suggesting the speaker views events as triggered by Lakṣmaṇa’s actions.
The verse underscores accountability and the idea that choices—especially in moments of crisis—can create cascading consequences affecting many people, not just the doer.
