वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse juxtaposes two outcomes of warfare—subjugation of a hero and acquisition of wealth—inviting reflection on how political success and material gain arise from force, and how such gains carry ethical responsibility within a dharmic framework.
The narrator reports that a great battle resulted in a warrior being brought under another’s control, and that gold, silver, and various jewels were obtained as the tangible fruits of that victory.
