The verse contrasts deceptive force (māyā used for harm) with rightful counter-force: Vāsudeva neutralizes illusion through superior discernment and power, implying that adharma-based stratagems are ultimately checked, while dharma requires clarity and restraint in confronting deception.
Vāsudeva narrates that he quickly seized and destroyed an enemy’s māyā (a magical/illusory contrivance). Once that illusion was broken, the opponent continued the fight by attacking with mountain-peaks, escalating to brute, destructive warfare.
