मार्कण्डेय उवाच विवस्वत: सुतो राजन् महर्षि: सुप्रतापवान् । बभूव नरशार्दूल प्रजापतिसमद्युति:,मार्कण्डेयजी बोले--नरश्रेष्ठ नरेश! विवस्वान् (सूर्य)-के एक अत्यन्त प्रतापी पुत्र हुआ, जो प्रजापतिके समान कान्तिमान् और महान् ऋषि था
mārkaṇḍeya uvāca | vivasvataḥ suto rājan maharṣiḥ supratāpavān | babhūva naraśārdūla prajāpati-samadyutiḥ ||
မာရ္ကဏ္ဍေယက ပြောသည်— «အို မင်းကြီး၊ လူတို့အတွင်း ကျားတော်! ဝိဝသ္ဝန် (နေမင်း) ၏ သားတော်တစ်ပါး မွေးဖွားလာ၍ အလွန်တန်ခိုးကြီးသော မဟာရိရှိ ဖြစ်ပြီး ပရာဇာပတိနှင့် တူညီသော တောက်ပမှုကို ဆောင်ခဲ့၏»။
