सोमक उवाच धिगस्त्विहैकपुत्रत्वमपुत्रत्वं वरं भवेत् । नित्यातुरत्वाद् भूतानां शोक एवैकपुत्रता
Somaka uvāca: dhig astv ihaika-putratvam aputratvaṁ varaṁ bhavet | nityāturatvād bhūtānāṁ śoka evāika-putratā ||
သောမကက ပြောသည်—“ဤလောက၌ သားတစ်ယောက်တည်းရှိခြင်းကို အရှက်တရားပင် ဖြစ်စေ၏။ သားမရှိခြင်းက ပိုကောင်းမည်။ သတ္တဝါတို့သည် အမြဲတမ်း အနာတရနှင့် ကပ်ဘေးတို့ကို ထိတွေ့နေရသဖြင့် သားတစ်ယောက်တည်းရှိလျှင် ထို ‘တစ်ယောက်တည်း’ ဟူသည်ပင် ဝမ်းနည်းခြင်းသာ ဖြစ်လာသည်”။
