कर्मणा5<चरितं पूर्व सद्धिराचरितं च यत्‌ । तदेवास्थाय मोदन्ते दान्ता: शमपरायणा:

karmaṇācaritaṃ pūrvaṃ sadbhir ācaritaṃ ca yat | tad evāsthāya modante dāntāḥ śamaparāyaṇāḥ ||

ဝိဒုရက ပြောသည်– ကိုယ်ကိုထိန်းချုပ်နိုင်၍ အတွင်းငြိမ်းချမ်းမှုကို အားထားသူတို့သည်၊ မိမိ၏တာဝန်အဖြစ် လုပ်ဆောင်ရမည့် ကర్మလမ်းကြောင်းကိုပင် အခြေခံကာ ပျော်ရွှင်ကြသည်။ ထိုလမ်းကြောင်းသည် အတိတ်ကာလမှ စာဒ္ဓု (သီလရှိသူ) များကလည်း လိုက်နာကျင့်သုံးခဲ့သော ဓမ္မလမ်းဖြစ်သည်။ ထို့ကြောင့် စည်းကမ်းတကျ အစဉ်အလာဓမ္မကို လိုက်နာခြင်းမှသာ သုခရရှိပြီး၊ အလျင်အမြန် သို့မဟုတ် ကိုယ့်အကျိုးအတွက်သာ လုပ်ခြင်းမှ မဟုတ်။
