Educational Q&A

The verse teaches that an untainted intellect (clear moral discernment) supported by firm resolve leads to spiritual security: such a person is said to have already secured a place in heaven and is not haunted by the great fear of hell. Ethical clarity plus steadfastness is presented as the safeguard against moral collapse.

In the Śānti Parva’s instruction-focused setting, Vyāsa delivers a concise doctrinal statement linking inner integrity (buddhi not being corrupted) and steadfast determination (niścaya) with auspicious posthumous destiny (svarga) and freedom from dread of downfall (naraka).
