Śānti-parva Adhyāya 30: Nārada–Parvata Samaya-bhaṅga, Śāpa, and the Marriage of Sukumārī
āvāṁ bhavati vatsyāvaḥ kaścit kālaṁ hitāya te
The verse emphasizes benevolent guidance: a wise protector or counselor stays close and acts with the explicit aim of another’s welfare (hita), not self-interest.
Śrī Kṛṣṇa addresses a respected person and declares that they will remain for a while, framing his presence as purposeful—meant to secure the listener’s good and right course of action.
