Yoga-kṛtya (योककृत्य) — Vyāsa on Sense-Restraint, Obstacles, and Brahman-Realization

तपो निः:श्रेयसं जन्तोस्तस्य मूलं शमो दम: । तेन सर्वानिवाप्नोति यान्‌ कामान्‌ मनसेच्छति

tapo niḥśreyasaṃ jantostasya mūlaṃ śamo damaḥ | tena sarvān ivāpnoti yān kāmān manasecchati ||

ဗျာသက မိန့်ကြားသည်—သတ္တဝါအတွက် တပ (tapas) သည် အမြင့်ဆုံးကောင်းကျိုးသို့ တိုက်ရိုက်ပို့ဆောင်သော နည်းလမ်းဖြစ်သည်။ ထိုတပ၏ အမြစ်မှာ စိတ်ငြိမ်သက်ခြင်း (śama) နှင့် ကိုယ်စိတ်ထိန်းချုပ်ခြင်း (dama) ဖြစ်၏။ ထိုသို့ စည်းကမ်းတကျ လေ့ကျင့်ခြင်းအားဖြင့် လူသည် မိမိစိတ်က မှန်ကန်စွာ လိုလားသမျှ အလိုဆန္ဒတို့ကို ရရှိနိုင်သည်။
