Adhyāya 166: Kṛtaghna-doṣa (कृतघ्नदोषः) — the fault of ingratitude and the limits of expiation

सुरापान ब्रह्म॒हत्या गुरुतल्पमथापि वा । अनिर्देश्यानि मन्यन्ते प्राणान्‍्तमिति धारणा

surāpāna-brahmahatyā guru-talpam athāpi vā | anirdeśyāni manyante prāṇāntam iti dhāraṇā ||

ဘိဿမက မိန့်ကြားသည်– «အရက်သောက်ခြင်း၊ ဗြာဟ္မဏကို သတ်ခြင်း၊ ဆရာ၏ အိပ်ရာကို ဖောက်ဖျက်ခြင်း (ဆိုသည်မှာ ဂုရု၏ ဇနီးနှင့် လိင်ဆက်ဆံခြင်း) — ဤတို့သည် သာမန်ပြစ်ဒဏ်ဖြေ (ပရာယရှ္စိတ္တ) ဖြင့် မသတ်မှတ်နိုင်သော မဟာအပြစ်များဟု ယူဆကြသည်။ ပညာရှိတို့၏ အယူအဆအရ ထိုအပြစ်များအတွက် ပြစ်ဒဏ်ဖြေဟူသည်မှာ ကိုယ့်အသက်ကို အဆုံးသတ်ခြင်းသာ ဖြစ်သည်»။

Bhīṣma classifies certain acts—liquor-drinking, brāhmaṇa-slaying, and violating the guru’s bed—as mahāpātakas so grave that ordinary ritual expiations are considered inadequate; some authorities therefore regard death (self-ending) as the only expiation.
