हर्षेण महता5<विष्टो वाक््यं व्याकुललोचन: । तथेमं शकुनिं दृष्टवा विधिदृष्टेन कर्मणा,शास्त्रीय विधिसे सत्कार पा उसने बड़े हर्षमें भरकर डबडबायी हुई आँखोंसे कबूतरकी ओर देखकर कहा--
harṣeṇa mahatāviṣṭo vākyam vyākula-locanaḥ | tathā imaṃ śakuniṃ dṛṣṭvā vidhi-dṛṣṭena karmaṇā satkāram cakāra, harṣa-bharād dṛṣṭiḥ sajalā babhūva; kapotaṃ prati nirīkṣya uvāca ||
ဘိရှ္မက ပြောသည်—အလွန်ကြီးမားသော ဝမ်းမြောက်မှုကြောင့် သူ၏ မျက်လုံးများ တုန်လှုပ်၍ မျက်ရည်ဝဲနေသကဲ့သို့ ဖြစ်ကာ ထိုငှက်ကို ကြည့်ပြီး စကားဆို하였다။ ထို “သကူနိ” (ငှက်) ကို မြင်ပြီးနောက် သာသနာကျမ်းညွှန်သည့် နည်းလမ်းအတိုင်း လုပ်ဆောင်ကာ ဧည့်သည်ကို ဂုဏ်ပြုဧည့်ခံသကဲ့သို့ သင့်တော်သော ဧည့်ဝတ်ပြုမှုကို ပေးအပ်하였다—ဓမ္မကို လေးစားသည့် စိတ်နှင့် ဧည့်သည်ကို ဂုဏ်ပြုရမည့် တာဝန်ကြောင့် ဖြစ်သည်။
