Adhyāya 3: Indra’s Invitation and Yudhiṣṭhira’s Refusal to Abandon the Dog

इन्द्रने कहा--राजन! तुम्हें अमरता, मेरी समानता, पूर्ण लक्ष्मी और बहुत बड़ी सिद्धि प्राप्त हुई है, साथ ही तुम्हें स्वर्गीय सुख भी उपलब्ध हुए हैं; अतः इस कुत्तेको छोड़ो और मेरे साथ चलो। इसमें कोई कठोरता नहीं है ।।
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca |
anāryam āryeṇa sahasranetra śakyaṃ kartuṃ duṣkaram etad ārya |
mā me śriyā saṅgamanam tayāstu yasyāḥ kṛte bhaktajanaṃ tyajeyam ||
ယုဓိဋ္ဌိရ မိန့်တော်မူသည်– «အို သဟသ္ရနేత్ర (မျက်စိတစ်ထောင်ရှင်) ဒေဝရာဇ အိန္ဒြာ၊ အာရျယပုရိသအတွက် အနိမ့်အလုပ်ကို လုပ်ခြင်းသည် အလွန်ခက်ခဲ၍ အာရျယ၏ဂုဏ်နှင့် မညီ။ ထိုသို့သော စည်းစိမ်ကိုလည်း မရပါစေနှင့်၊ ထိုသို့သော ကံကြမ္မာနှင့်လည်း မပေါင်းပါစေနှင့်—ယင်းကြောင့် သစ္စာရှိသော အဖော်ကို စွန့်ပစ်ရမည်ဆိုလျှင်»။
