अध्याय १: महाप्रस्थानारम्भः
The Commencement of the Great Departure
अनमनिं ते ददृशुस्तत्र स्थितं शैलमिवाग्रत: । मार्गमावृत्य तिष्ठन्तं साक्षात्पुरुषविग्रहम्
anamanīṁ te dadṛśus tatra sthitaṁ śailam ivāgrataḥ | mārgam āvṛtya tiṣṭhantaṁ sākṣāt puruṣa-vigraham ||
ထို့နောက် သူတို့သည် တောင်တစ်လုံးကဲ့သို့ ရှေ့တွင် တည်နေသော၊ လူရုပ်ဖြင့် ထင်ရှားသည့် ကြောက်မက်ဖွယ် ပုရုသရုပ်တစ်ပါးကို မြင်ကြ၏။ ထိုသူသည် လမ်းကို ပိတ်ဆို့ကာ မလှုပ်မယှက် တည်ကြည်စွာ ရပ်နေ하였다။
