Chapter 161
अत्यन्तवैरी पार्थानां सततं पापपूरुष: । एष मूलमनर्थानां दुर्योधनमते स्थित:
atyantavairī pārthānāṃ satataṃ pāpapūruṣaḥ | eṣa mūlam anarthānāṃ duryodhanamate sthitaḥ ||
သဉ္ဇယက ပြောသည်— «သူသည် ပाण्डဝတို့၏ မညှာမတာ ရန်သူ၊ အမြဲတမ်း အပြစ်ပြုသူ ဖြစ်၏။ သူသည် အပျက်အဆီးတို့၏ အမြစ်တိုင်ဖြစ်ပြီး ဒုရျောဓန၏ အကြံနှင့် စိတ်သဘောထားတွင် တည်မြဲစွာ ရပ်တည်နေသူ ဖြစ်၏»။
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights ethical causality in leadership and allegiance: persistent hostility and sinful intent, when anchored in a destructive leader’s counsel, become the root cause of widespread harm. It warns that aligning oneself with adharma-driven policy multiplies calamity for many.
Sañjaya characterizes a figure on the Kaurava side as a relentless enemy of the Pāṇḍavas and identifies him as a principal source of misfortune because he is firmly committed to Duryodhana’s line of thinking and strategy.
