The verse reinforces kṣatriya-dharma: once duty in a righteous battle is clear, one should act with firmness. Bhishma’s pleased approval functions as a moral sanction—urging courageous action aimed at rightful victory and the fulfilment of legitimate aims through disciplined combat.
Bhishma addresses a Pandava prince affectionately as “son,” expressing satisfaction and granting encouragement: he commands him to fight, predicts/permits victory, and tells him to accomplish whatever further objective he seeks on the battlefield.
