Vipulopākhyāna—Ruci-rakṣā and Śakra’s Māyā (विपुलोपाख्यानम्—रुचिरक्षणं शक्रमाया च)
भीष्म उवाच क्रिया भवति केषांचिदुपांशुव्रतमुत्तमम् । यो यो याचेत यत् किज्चित् सर्व दद्याम इत्यपि
bhīṣma uvāca
kriyā bhavati keṣāñcid upāṃśu-vratam uttamam |
yo yo yāceta yat kiñcit sarvaṃ dadyām ity api ||
ဘိဿမက ပြောလေ၏—“ယုဓိဋ္ဌိရရေ၊ လူအချို့အတွက် ယဇ္ဈ (ယဇ္ဉ) ကိစ္စများ၊ ဂုရုဒက္ခိဏာ ပေးခြင်း၊ မိသားစုကို ထောက်ပံ့ပြုစုခြင်း စသည့် လှုပ်ရှားလုပ်ဆောင်မှုတို့သည်ပင် မိမိရွေးချယ်ထားသော ရည်မှန်းချက် ဖြစ်၏။ အခြားအချို့အတွက်မူ အမြင့်ဆုံးသော စည်းကမ်းသည် အနီးကပ်တိတ်ဆိတ်သည့် ဝတ် (ဥပာံရှုဝြတ) ဖြင့် အသက်မွေးခြင်း ဖြစ်၏။ ထို့ကြောင့် မည်သည့် တောင်းခံသူမဆို မည်သည့်အရာကို တောင်းလျှင်လည်း ‘ငါပေးမည်’ ဟူသော စိတ်ဖြင့် ပြန်ဆိုရမည်—မည်သူကိုမျှ စိတ်ပျက်စေ၍ မလွှတ်ရ” ဟု။
