Mahabharata — Anushasana Parva, Shloka 23
रुद्रस्य भागं यज्ञे च विशिष्ट ते त्वकल्पयन् | भयेन त्रिदशा राजन् शरणं च प्रपेदिरे
rudrasya bhāgaṃ yajñe ca viśiṣṭa te tv akalpayan | bhayena tridaśā rājan śaraṇaṃ ca prapedire |
ဝါယုက ပြောသည်– «အရှင်မင်းကြီး၊ ကြောက်ရွံ့ခြင်းကြောင့် နတ်တို့သည် ရုဒ္ဒရ (ရှင်ကရာ) ထံသို့ ခိုလှုံရာကို ရှာဖွေသွားကြ၏။ ထို့နောက် ယဇ်ပူဇော်ပွဲ၌ ရုဒ္ဒရအတွက် ထူးခြားမြင့်မြတ်သော အပိုင်းကို သတ်မှတ်ပေးကြပြီး ယဇ်ကျန်အရာအားလုံးကို ရုဒ္ဒရ၏ အခွင့်အရေးအဖြစ် ခွဲဝေပေးကြ၏»။

Vāyu narrates that the gods, frightened, approach Rudra/Śaṅkara for protection and then formally institute a distinct portion for him in the yajña, effectively assigning the sacrificial remainder as Rudra’s entitlement.
