Bhīṣma’s Yogic Departure, Royal Cremation, and Gaṅgā’s Lament (भीष्मस्य योगयुक्त्या देहत्यागः, पितृमेधः, गङ्गाविलापः)
अप्येवात्मवध॑ लोके राजंस्त्वं बहु मन्यसे । न हि प्रतिज्ञा या दत्ता तां प्रहातुमरिंदम
apy evātmavadhaṁ loke rājan tvaṁ bahu manyase | na hi pratijñā yā dattā tāṁ prahātum arindama ||
ဘီရှ္မက ပြောသည်– «အို မင်းကြီး၊ ဤလောက၌ ကိုယ့်ကိုယ်ကို ဖျက်ဆီးခြင်းကိုပင် ပိုမိုကြီးမြတ်သော လမ်းဟု သင်တကယ် ထင်မြင်သလော။ တစ်ခါပေးထားသော ကတိသစ္စာကို မစွန့်ပစ်သင့်၊ အို ရန်သူနှိမ်နင်းသူ။ သင်သည် ရန်သူတို့ကို အနိုင်ယူ၍ ပြည်သူကို တရားမျှတစွာ အုပ်ချုပ်မည်ဟူသော တာဝန်ကို ခံယူထားသည်; ဝမ်းနည်းခြင်းကြောင့် ကိုယ့်အသက်ကို စွန့်ရန် စိတ်ကူးခြင်းသည် ထိုဓမ္မသန္နိဋ္ဌာန်မှ လွဲချော်ခြင်းပင် ဖြစ်သည်»။
