Adhyāya 122 — Śruta-vṛtta-yukta Brāhmaṇa and the Ethics of Dāna
Maitreya–Vyāsa Saṃvāda
गुणभूतानि भूतानि तत्र त्वमुपभोक्ष्यसे । तत्र ते5हं विनेष्यामि ब्रह्मा त्वं यत्र वैष्यसि
guṇabhūtāni bhūtāni tatra tvam upabhokṣyase | tatra te 'haṃ vineṣyāmi brahmā tvaṃ yatra vaiṣyasi ||
ဗျာသက ပြောသည်— «အဲဒီမှာ သင်သည် အတွေ့အကြုံ၏ အရာဝတ္ထုများကို ခံစားသော်လည်း ၎င်းတို့သည် မဟာဘူတ ငါးပါး၏ ပြောင်းလဲမှုသာဖြစ်ကြောင်း သိမြင်ကာ မကပ်ငြိဘဲ နေမည်။ ထို့နောက် ငါသည် သင့်ထံ လာ၍ ဗြဟ္မဗိဒ္ယာ—ဗြဟ္မကို သိမြင်သည့် ပညာကို သင်ကြားပေးမည်။ သင်သွားလိုသည့် လောကမည်သည့်နေရာမဆို ထိုလောကသို့ပင် ငါက သင့်ကို ပို့ဆောင်မည်»။

Sense-objects should be experienced without clinging, by seeing them as mere modifications of the elemental world; when dispassion matures, the teacher grants brahma-vidyā and guides the seeker toward the desired (and ultimately highest) destination.
Vyāsa promises the listener that after they live with non-attachment—treating worldly enjoyments as elemental transformations—he will personally return to instruct them in Brahman-knowledge and then lead them to the realm they choose.
