Dāna-Śreṣṭhatā: On the Superiority of Giving
Maitreya–Vyāsa Exemplum
सकृज्जातिगुणोपेत: संगत्या गृहमागत: । अतिथि: पूजितो ब्रह्मंस्तेन मां नाजहात् स्मृति:
sakṛj jātiguṇopetaḥ saṅgatyā gṛham āgataḥ | atithiḥ pūjito brahman tena māṁ nājahāt smṛtiḥ ||
ပိုးက ပြော၏—“တစ်ခါက မိမိဇာတိအလိုက် သင့်တော်သော ဂုဏ်သတ္တိများနှင့် ပြည့်စုံသည့် ဘြာဟ္မဏဧည့်သည်တစ်ဦးသည် အခွင့်အလမ်းကြောင့် ငါ့အိမ်သို့ ရောက်လာခဲ့၏။ ငါသည် ထိုသူကို ထိုက်တန်သည့် ဧည့်ဝတ်ပြုကာ ပူဇော်ခဲ့၏။ အို ဘြာဟ္မဏ၊ ထိုအမှုကြောင့် ငါ့မှတ်ဉာဏ်သည် ယခုထိ မပျောက်ကွယ်သေး။”
