Dāna-Śreṣṭhatā: On the Superiority of Giving
Maitreya–Vyāsa Exemplum
कीट उवाच सर्वत्र निरतो जीव इतश्नापि सुखं मम । चिन्तयामि महाप्राज्ञ तस्मादिच्छामि जीवितुम्
kīṭa uvāca sarvatra nirato jīva itaś cāpi sukhaṃ mama | cintayāmi mahāprājña tasmād icchāmi jīvitum ||
ပိုးကောင်က ပြောသည်—“အို ပညာရှိကြီး၊ အသက်ရှင်ခြင်းသည် နေရာတိုင်း၌ အလုပ်အကိုင်နှင့် လှုပ်ရှားမှုမပြတ် ရှိနေ၏၊ ဤနေရာ၌ပင် ငါ့အတွက် ကိုယ်ပိုင်ပျော်ရွှင်မှုတစ်စိတ်တစ်ပိုင်း ရှိ၏။ ထိုသို့ စဉ်းစားသုံးသပ်ပြီးနောက်၊ အို ဉာဏ်ကြီးရှင်၊ ငါသည် ဆက်လက် အသက်ရှင်လို၏”။
