Educational Q&A

This verse is a colophon marking the end of a chapter; it does not add new instruction directly. By closing the Yayāti episode, it implicitly highlights the Mahābhārata’s method of teaching dharma through framed narratives—stories whose ethical meaning is carried by the completed episode rather than by the closing formula itself.

The narrator signals formal completion: the seventy-eighth chapter in the Ādi Parva’s Sambhava Parva, within the Yayāti sub-narrative, has ended. It functions as an editorial/narrative boundary before the text proceeds to the next unit.
